1. What size food donation should I buy?
The largest size is always best so that we can feed more guests without transporting so many small boxes! If you can manage to get to Costco their sizes are ideal!
2.What size turkey is appropriate to cook?
We have found that turkeys in the 15 pound range cook through more completely and retain their moisture better than the larger birds.
3. When do my food and paper good donations need to be brought to the church?
All non-perishable donations can be brought to the church any time and deposited in the blue bin, labeled “POTS Donations” in the front of the church.
4. I have offered to roast a turkey, when does it need to get to the church?
All turkeys should be brought to the church on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. or for Christmas, on December 24th, between 7:30 AM-11:00
5. I have offered to bring pies and dinner rolls, when do I need to deliver them?
It is encouraged that people volunteering to purchase pies and rolls; do so one or two days prior to Christmas Eve to ensure freshness. They, like the turkeys, need to be delivered on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM or December 24th, between 7:30 AM and 11:00 AM.
6. I have signed up for “Set Up”, what time do I need to be at Our Lady of Refuge?
People signed up for set up should report at 8 AM
7. I have signed up to be a “Server” what time do I need to be at Our Lady of Refuge?
All servers must arrive by 10:30 AM and stay until 2 PM! Please do not sign up for this category unless you are willing to stay the entire time!
8. I have signed up to be a “Seater”, what do I do?
Seaters are responsible for receiving the guests from the greeters at the door. They work in conjunction with the “spotters” who will indicate how many available seats there are at a given table. All seaters need to arrive by 10:30 AM and stay until 2 PM.
9. I have signed up to be a “Spotter”, what do I do?
Spotters are very important to keeping the flow of the dining room optimal. They are the ones responsible for indicating how many available seats there are at a given table, as well as how many plates of food need to be delivered to a given table. All Spotters need to arrive by 10:30 AM and stay until 2 PM.
10. I have signed up to Receive Food for Christmas, what does this entail?
Volunteers to receive food should report to the front of Resurrection Church on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at 8 a.m. or December 24th, between 7:30 AM and 11:00 AMThe truck and cars will be loaded at this time for delivery to Our Lady of Refuge.
11. I have signed up to “Deliver Food”, what does this entail?
Please arrive at Resurrection Church on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at 3:00 PM and on December 24th,by 12 PM so that your vehicle can be loaded with food for delivery to Our Lady of Refuge.
12. Where do I go?
The dinner is held at Our Lady of Refuge Church, 290 East 196TH St., Bronx
NOT at POTS on Webster Avenue!
